Backache – Acute lumbago and back pain

Lumbago, or acute lower back pain, often comes on suddenly and feels like a sharp pain in the lower back – often on one side. It can occur when lifting, twisting in a bent position, or after a long period of tense muscles. Many describe it as the back “locking up” and a stabbing pain with the slightest movement.

The pain can last for a few days and then turn into a more dull ache. Without treatment, there is a risk of the problems becoming prolonged.

Common symptoms of lumbago

  • Sudden locking or spasm in the lower back
  • Difficulty moving or straightening up
  • Very painful to twist, bend or sit
  • Ache on one side of the lower back
  • Pain when coughing, sneezing or taking deep breaths
  • Reduced mobility and stiffness
  • The acute phase usually lasts about 2–3 days

A common cause is that the hip flexor goes into spasm, which causes the back to try to compensate, and then it “stabs.”

Deep Tissue Massage

The PRO Technique

A treatment technique developed by Malin herself, which focuses on movement patterns, blockages, and muscular imbalances.

FOHOW Meridian Treatment

Meridian treatment does not remove the root cause of lumbago, but:

  • reduces tension around the area
  • improves circulation
  • can provide faster pain relief
  • helps the body release compensatory tension

Follow-up (5–7 days)

Many feel improvement after the first treatment, but a follow-up is recommended so that the problems do not return
